Pembrokeshire is a county that’s always packed with fantastic events going on, using its gorgeous landscape to host some truly unique spectacles. Whether you’re a fitness fanatic, a music maestro or an adrenaline junkie, Pembrokeshire has plenty on offer to keep everyone entertained.

With this in mind, here are some events you should take note of in your calendar this year!

Westival

Westival is an intimate music festival based right in the heart of Pembrokeshire, featuring a diverse music line-up as well as chillout zones, boat parties and surfing lessons! It runs over 4 days, giving you the chance to really soak in all that the area has to offer.

It’s been going since 2018, and focuses on on the environment and community, with sustainability being top of the agenda.

With an eclectic mix of live music and DJ sets, Westival has something to keep lovers of all music genres entertained for days!

Narberth Food Festival

Looking to celebrate some of Wales’ best food and drink? Narberth Food Festival is the place to do it! Offering two days of family-friendly, food-themed entertainment, you can enjoy food stalls, local guest chefs, live music and more.

It’s a great opportunity to explore the town of Narberth too, as it takes place right in the heart of the high street.

Ironman Wales

Ironman Wales is the ultimate test of endurance and fitness in Wales, testing your competence in water, on wheels and by foot in this beautifully backdropped triathlon.

With the sports village based in the picturesque Pembrokeshire town of Tenby, with Tenby Castle watching over as the race unfolds.

Don’t worry if you’re not an athlete, the event is a great spectacle for those looking to cheer on those who are competing, with Tenby transforming for the evening. You can also volunteer too.

After Dark

After Dark is Oakwood’s evening event that runs throughout August Every Wednesday, Saturday, and Bank Holiday Monday!

During the summer, when daylight lasts that little bit longer, we want to encourage everyone to enjoy the extra daylight while experiencing some of the UK’s best rollercoasters illuminated by lights!

As well as the usual excitement of our rides, we’ve also got UV paint parties, music and fireworks to add a bang to your evening.

The best part? It’s all included in the price of a standard ticket, allowing you to take full advantage of the late sunsets from 10am to 10pm. Not here in August? Take a look at our other events happening throughout the year!

Pembrokeshire County Show

The area’s biggest agricultural event, Pembrokeshire County Show is jam-packed with something for everyone to enjoy. Including competitions across categories like animals, horticulture, vintage cars and crafts, it’s Wales’ largest county show spanning across two days in August.

Culminating in a grand parade, it’s a weekend to enjoy some family-friendly entertainment. Even better, there’s also free onsite parking.

Fishguard Folk Festival

Fishguard Folk Festival is exactly what it says on the tin, offering a festival that’s an absolute blast for anyone, regardless of your interest in folk music.

With over 60 events taking place, you can expect to enjoy live performances, sessions, workshops, walks and more.

Usually taking place over the late May bank holiday, the festival is ideally placed in the calendar to make the trip over to Pembrokeshire, even if you’re only enjoying a day of the festival.

What sets Fishguard Folk Festival apart is its participatory aspect, with any musician able to go down and busk in the street over the weekend, whatever level you’re at.

Big Retreat Festival

The Big Retreat is a festival that focuses on rejuvenation, with over 300 feel-good experiences included in the price of the ticket.

Over the course of 4 days, you’ll be treated to arts and crafts activities, live music, instructor-led exercise classes and much, much more.

Big Retreat Festival aims to be a family-orientated festival, with areas specifically designed with children in mind. It’s the perfect getaway, giving you the chance to relax, reflect and reboot.

Tenby Boxing Day Swim

If you’re looking to take part in a historic and rejuvenating experience, look no further than the Tenby Boxing Day Swim! It’s been running for over 50 years and has become somewhat of an institution in the Welsh town.

With the stampede towards the sea, followed by a bonfire and hot soup, it’s the perfect way to feel part of the local community. What’s more, many choose to fundraise for it too, with the Tenby Sea Swimming Association having raised almost £300,000 for charity over the years.

Long Course Weekend

The Long Course Weekend is a series of swims, cycles, and runs over a weekend in the heart of Pembrokeshire, centred in Tenby.

The Full LCW includes a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile cycle and a full marathon on Sunday, making for a gruelling challenge even for elite-level athletes.

As a spectator, the event is completely free with many eateries and places to grab a drink in Tenby as well as the entertainment of the event.
