Staff at Oakwood Theme Park took time off from getting the park ready for the start of the new season to mark St David’s Day on Thursday.
The Pembrokeshire attraction’s very own dragon Scorch joined in with the fun by unfurling a large Welsh flag, with the help of Oakwood’s Karl Smith, in front of the park’s iconic wooden rollercoaster – Megafobia.
Engineers had planned for Scorch to climb to the top of the giant ride and hoist the flag on a special flagpole, however fog intervened and the team decided to postpone his attempt.
“The entire site is busy with team members getting ready for the start of the new season.
“All the rides and other attractions are being thoroughly cleaned and put through their paces before we open our doors to the public.
“However even with all the hustle and bustle the team wanted to mark Wales’ national day and, although Scorch couldn’t make it to the top of Megafobia, he was still keen to fly the flag”.
The park, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, re-opens for the 2012 season on Saturday, March 31st.
