WOODS JOIN WOODIE’S BIRTHDAY PARTY AT OAKWOOD THEME PARK
Oakwood Theme Park celebrated the 20th birthday of its iconic wooden coaster Megafobia with a very special party over the Bank Holiday weekend.
As part of the fun, the Pembrokeshire attraction invited anyone with the surname ‘Wood’ to enjoy a ride on their famous ‘woodie’.
As well as all the ‘Woods’, there were some special appearance by the park’s very own cuddly mascot Scorch the Dragon alongside a clown while their Neverland attraction played host to Peter Pan, Tinkerbell and Captain Hook.
Visitors were also treated to live music from Oakwood’s very own Brody, alongside Mike Jones, Alice Mee Bishop, who has recently been accepted to the Brit School in London, and Kris Sanders.
“It was a fantastic weekend of fun activities and events all based around Megafobia,” said Oakwood’s Natalie Hunt.
“There was facepainting and a mass balloon release, which was preceded by the entire park joining in with a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’.
“One of the ‘Woods’ even came along dressed as Woody from ‘Toy Story’!” she added.
Opened in 1996 and manufactured by the leading US company Custom Coasters International, Megafobia is close to a kilometre in length, and is 26 metres tall at its highest point.
Famed as one of the wildest wooden coasters on the planet, Megafobia has been voted the best ride in the UK and the third best ride in the world by coaster enthusiasts from the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain.
In 2010 it was listed as one of the Top Ten rides in the world in a poll conducted for Cheapflights.com.
Set in 90 acres of spectacular Pembrokeshire countryside, Oakwood is one of the UK’s leading theme parks with more than 40 exhilarating attractions; including four world class rides to enjoy.
