A day out at a theme park is an incredibly exciting time that might not come around very often, which is why you should try your hardest to squeeze in as much as you can during your visit.
While every theme park is different, with our easy-to-follow guide, you can make sure that your trip to Oakwood Theme Park is as productive as possible.
We’ll guide you through a great day at Oakwood, ensuring that you’ve got plenty of time to visit every attraction we’ve got on offer, with enough time for a bite to eat in between of course!
To get the most out of your day at Oakwood, you’ll want to get to the park nice and early. While the park officially opens at 10am, getting there slightly earlier will mean that you can take a leisurely stroll to the main entrance and be ready to enter the park. Our rides open at around 10.30am. Arriving nice and early will also allow you to breeze through to Scorch’s official height measurement that takes place at Whistlestop Shop.
Opening times can fluctuate throughout the year, with specific events and dates meaning that the park opens at a slightly later time of 11 am. We’d recommend checking the website the day before to make sure that you’re not waiting around for an hour.
While you might be in a rush to jump on the biggest coasters, we think it’s always best to ease yourself in with the family rides that offer some of the thrills of the large rides for younger children. This is especially great if you’ve got a party of mixed ages.
Treetops has been thrilling guests for over 30 years, whizzing riders through the treeline in log-shaped trains. Riders must be age 2+ to experience this up to 22mph ride, so it’s ideal for younger children.
The Creepy Crawler ride might sound lethargic, but it’s far from it! For those over 1.2 metres, jump in a carriage and soar high into the sky, whirling and dropping for just under a minute at speeds of up to 28mph!
Now that you’re warmed up and your heart is pumping, it’s time to experience some real adrenaline on the biggest rides we have to offer.
Just before you head to lunch, jump on the bigger rides to experience the drops of Megafobia and the unrivalled acceleration of Speed.
Speed reaches speeds of almost 60mph with 2 inversions, all while you’re up to 114 feet in the air, making it a real heart-thumper!
Megafobia – as the name would suggest – is the jewel in the crown of Oakwood, rising 85 feet into the air and reaching speeds of almost 50mph during the large drops. This ride is reserved for riders of over 1.2m making it ideal for older kids and teenagers.
While on Megafobia, you can take the chance to grab a photo of you on the ride, making a great souvenir!
Oakwood isn’t just full of white-knuckle rollercoasters, it’s also a great place to enjoy a bite to eat – in between the great rides, of course.
We’ve got a tantalising range of eateries, alongside picnic areas for those who would prefer to bring along their own food.
We have a variety of food options throughout the day, so don’t be afraid to pop in at different times.
After you’ve had some food, you might want to avoid the bigger rides that might upset your stomach. But by no means should that call for a stop to your fun!
Family rides such as Bobsleigh, Pirate Ship, and Neverland Chase are geared towards younger children while still offering plenty of fun for the whole family.
The Peter Pan-themed Neverland is also a great way to spend an hour or so if you’ve got younger children in your party.
Once you’ve ticked off a load of the rides, the arcades will be calling your name. So, get your coins ready to go on the penny slots or try your luck at winning a toy on one of the claw machines, making a perfect souvenir of the day that you can cherish!
The arcades provide a great way to break the day up and keep the excitement high when you’re not on the rollercoasters.
Towards the end of the day, there’s no better time to jump on a water ride like Skull Rock or Snake River Falls! As the names might suggest, you’re bound to get a bit wet on these rides but with the day wrapping up, you’ve got a bit of time to get dry before you head home.
Snake River Falls will have you dropping down waterslides in a boat either on your own or with a partner, before a big splash at the end.
Unfortunately, it’s now time to head home! After a day filled with adventure and fun, you’ll be chatting all about your trip during the ride home, if you can keep your eyes open!
Remember, this is just a guide, and you can tackle the park in any order you’d like, although we’d advise against eating a whole pizza before you hop on Speed!
To make the most of your day at Oakwood, make sure to book your tickets in advance so that you can make sure that you can skip the queues and get right into the park.
